London to screen ‘The Salesman’

London is to screen Iranian director Asghar Farhadi’s blockbuster ‘The Salesman’ in Trafalgar Square in the presence of political and cultural figures.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan is to attend the screening which is said to be a response to Trump’s visa ban on seven Muslim countries, including Iran.

The event is said to be launched as a symbol of alliance against the division of people.

Most recently, The London mayor, Sadiq Khan, said London can attract artists who no longer feel at home in the US.

Directed by renowned Iranian filmmaker, ‘the Salesman’ tells the story of a young couple named Emad (Shahab Hosseini) and Rana (Taraneh Alidoosti) who move into a new apartment in the center of Tehran. However, an incident linked to the previous tenant dramatically changes their lives.

The film has already won double awards for Best Screenplay and Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival this year.

Farhadi won the best film and the best director awards of the same festival for ‘A Separation’ in 2012.
